About Carmen
Carmen opened in El Poblado in 2008, founded by Carmen Angel and Rob Pevitts with Carmen’s father Diego Angel. The couple met as classmates at Le Cordon Bleu in San Francisco; Rob came to cooking sideways, having studied at Berklee College of Music and worked as a bassist and record producer first. It occupies a converted house, sits on Latin America’s 50 Best Discovery list, and now anchors a group including Carmen Cartagena, Moshi, Don Diablo and XO. Day to day the kitchen is run by executive chef Juan José Cárdenas.
What to Order at Carmen
The cooking is contemporary Colombian. The single most-voted dish among diners is the Taco Delhi, followed by the pez negro, the steak de lentejas, the Bahía Solano and the trío de tacos; the pulpo and the cerdo a tres tiempos are the other two that recur. Finish with La Solterita. Bar Carmen runs as a separate cocktail programme — ask for La Chicha. Expect around $159,900 COP a head for a starter, main and soft drink. Tasting-menu prices circulate widely online but none could be verified against a primary source, so check the current carta when you book.
